It was in 2004, that we started to involve & train local village youths as we began to grow and could expand. They were given freedom to sculpt what they liked and most importantly a livelihood was beginning. Throughout the process we came to believe the importance of Craft person’s enjoyment in creating, which in turn puts a life into their work & creates a bond with the buyer who appreciates the piece. Therefore, the joy in creating became more important than the number of pieces one made at the end of the day. The result was bound to be positive. Regular counseling on personal issues helped to ignite the confidence in the apprentices as they became skilled craftworkers.
